Peter and Morgan Kollmeyer

Are two of the newest members of our Table Community. They first started coming through our door regularly at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic when the only dining option we could provide was carry-out. Since then we have come to know and love them more and more and wanted to introduce them and their amazing story to our larger community.

“The Table has, from day one, felt like an open invitation to a seat among a genuine, loving community. We Treasure our newfound friendships. (and the yummy food of course!)”

- Morgan

Not only are they some of our newest regulars, they are also newlyweds! We got to sit down with them and ask them how they adapted their wedding plans because of the pandemic and why they feel drawn to our community here at The Table.

Peter and Morgan’s first visit to the table was on the same day that they received their marriage certificate from the Randolph County Courthouse.

Their original plan was to get married on June 6th but because of COVID-19 restrictions, they decided to change things up and get creative with what their wedding could look like. Because Morgan was working so closely with COVID patients at the time, they chose to take their nuptials online. To protect their loved ones from potential exposure.

The wedding took place online with Morgan's Aunt officiating, allowing guests to be a part of their special day from a safe distance. Morgan was escorted down the aisle with a cardboard cutout wearing her dad's favorite soccer jersey. The ceremony took place in front of their hitching post for their two horses. They were literally hitched at the hitching post! Their first dance was to ‘How Sweet It Is’ by James Taylor on the front porch of their home while their friends and family watched via Zoom.

Finding light in darkness and dark times has been the theme of Peter and Morgan’s relationship from the beginning and that has especially held true while they have navigated getting married and starting a life together during a global pandemic. We think we could all learn something from our friends Peter and Morgan. Life really is about finding the light in the middle of darkness. These days it can be easy to focus on the chaos and what’s not going right, but there is always light to find. Peter and Morgan are two people who carry that light in their everyday and it shines in the way they engage those they interact with. If you’re lucky enough to run into them on your next visit to our Table, say hello and introduce yourself, your day will be a lot brighter for it.
